Game Format, Rules, and General Comments

  1. This league, while competitive, exists primarily to provide recreation and skill development through the equal participation by all players. The emphasis is on personal growth, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and having fun. “Winning” should be secondary to these goals.

  2. The league is committed to the principles of sportsmanship, and it has zero tolerance for inappropriate conduct before, during, and after games and practices. Players using profanity or taunting opponents during games will be given a penalty. Players will be ejected for the remainder of the game following a second incident. Excessive profanity, roughness or fighting will result in immediate ejection from the game and suspension from the next regularly scheduled game. Double minor penalties will be assessed for dangerous play such as intentional boarding and intentional checking. Repeated incidents of unacceptable behavior may result in expulsion from the league. A player receiving three penalties in a single game will be removed and not permitted to re-enter that game.

  3. Teams should be ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled starting times. Please plan ahead and be there early!!!

  4. Practices and games will be combined in each one hour session. Practice and game lengths will determined by the Division Coordinators. The last two minutes of the game will be stop time only if the goal differential is 2 or less. Overtime and/or shootouts will only be used for playoff games.

  5. Unless otherwise agreed to in advance by both coaches, teams in the Divisions 1 & 2 will use 4-skater lines plus a goalie. The Division Coordinator, in consultation with the coaches, will decide if Division 3 will use 4 or 5- skater lines plus a goalie.

  6. Off-sides and clearing will not be called in any division.

  7. Referee calls may be politely questioned only for the purpose of clarifying the rules. Continued or aggressive disputing of a call will result in a bench penalty. The referees deserve your respect for doing a difficult job.

  8. All other rules of the game will be according to the current USA Hockey In-Line Official Rule Book.
